Contentsquare Pricing 2026: Plans, Session Bands and Terms

Contentsquare pricing is harder to read than it looks, because one page sells three products on separate meters and two platforms, and only part of it has a price you can see. It matters to more teams this autumn, since Hotjar accounts are being moved onto Contentsquare. This guide records what Contentsquare's pricing page and help centre showed on 26 October 2026, viewed from Sweden, and what it means for an online store.

The short answer: Contentsquare starts free, Growth starts at 49 euros, and Arktis is the clear winner for store attribution

Contentsquare's Experience Analytics, its heatmaps and session replay product, is free for up to 200,000 sessions a month with one month of data. Growth is sold in 15 session bands, from 49 euros a month for 7,000 sessions to 739 euros for 200,000 on monthly billing, or 39 to 591 euros a month on yearly billing, with larger volumes quoted. Voice of Customer, the survey product, is free for 100 responses a month and listed from 79 euros a month, the figure the page shows beside yearly pricing. Product Analytics and the Pro and Enterprise plans are quoted through sales. Prices were shown in euros from Sweden on 26 October 2026.

For an online store whose real question is which source, campaign and ad platform its orders came from, Arktis is the clear winner. It captures ad click identifiers and UTM parameters on landing, matches Shopify orders back to a visit, and counts conversions per UTM campaign and per ad platform, at published prices of $49, $149 and $349 a month, with session recordings and a 7-day free trial on Growth. Contentsquare keeps channel and campaign revenue attribution for its quoted Pro and Enterprise plans.

Key takeaways

Contentsquare prices each product separately, per account per geographic region rather than per site, and bills European customers in euros. Experience Analytics Growth costs 49 to 739 euros a month across 15 bands, 20 percent less on yearly billing paid in the product, and the help centre now spells out the replay rule: replays are captured for every session up to 20,000 a month, then for 15 percent. Going over the allowance stops collection until the reset rather than sampling. Hotjar customers are being moved onto Contentsquare Growth unless the account owner opts out, and the new tag needs its own place in the store's cookie banner.

What Contentsquare sells

The pricing page splits into two blocks. Experience Analytics carries the self-serve plans, Free and Growth, with heatmaps, session replays, funnels, journey analysis and basic surveys. The Experience Platform, labelled as AI-powered, carries Pro and Enterprise, which are sold through a demo and have no published price.

The help centre describes three products, Experience Analytics, Voice of Customer and Product Analytics, each with its own plan, and one recurring payment covers all of them.

Experience Analytics prices, band by band

Growth is priced with a sessions dropdown. We stepped through all 16 positions on 26 October 2026, first on yearly billing, which the page selects by default, and then on monthly billing. Every step is in the table, viewed from Sweden and shown in euros. The yearly total is our arithmetic.

Every price matched what our Hotjar pricing guide and Hotjar vs Crazy Egg comparison recorded on 16 October. The comparison table and the help centre give the Growth range as 7,000 to 10 million sessions, so volumes above the last priced band appear to stay on Growth at a quoted price.

What Growth adds over Free: 13 months of data instead of one, three projects instead of one, zone-based heatmaps, journey analysis, filters by user ID and custom variables, integrations with Optimizely, AB Tasty and Kameleoon, and AI chat and summaries. Form analysis, APIs and alerts are listed only on Pro and Enterprise. MCP access is capped at 300 tool calls a month on Free and 36,000 a year on Growth.

Session replays: how many you actually get

Sessions and replays are counted separately. Contentsquare's help centre article on sessions, replays and plan limits says Free captures replays for 5 percent of sessions, up to 10,000, while Growth captures 100 percent of sessions up to 20,000 a month, and 15 percent above that, with a minimum of 20,000.

Take the arithmetic one step further. At 15 percent, a store needs more than about 133,000 monthly sessions before it gets more than 20,000 replays, so every band from 25,000 to 120,000 sessions comes with 20,000 replays. Moving up those bands buys analytics coverage, not more recordings. Replays stay available for two months on Growth and one on Free.

Our Hotjar pricing guide read this rule from the comparison table and suggested asking for it in writing. The help centre now states it directly, in an article last edited on 21 October 2026.

Voice of Customer and Product Analytics

Voice of Customer is free for 100 responses a month, with one month of access to responses. Growth covers 500 to 100,000 responses with unlimited access, custom branding, advanced targeting, embedded surveys and AI analysis, and is listed from 79 euros a month. The page shows that figure the same way it lists Experience Analytics from 39 euros, which is the yearly-billing price. On 26 October the page did not show a price for each response band, so the bands between 500 and 100,000 have to be read in the product or asked for.

Every Product Analytics tier, Free included, sits behind a book a demo button. The comparison table lists Free up to 10,000 sessions with seven months of data, Growth from 17,000 to 80,000 sessions and Pro from 33,000 to 8 million.

Pro and Enterprise on the Experience Platform

Pro and Enterprise are custom priced. Pro lists up to six projects, cross-session and cross-device journey analysis, error analysis and real user monitoring, conversion and revenue attribution by channel, campaign and AI source, and A/B testing with outcomes analysis. Enterprise adds unlimited projects, synthetic monitoring, dedicated support and service levels. On both, the help centre says session and replay allowances are set in the contract.

For a store, the line that matters is attribution. On Contentsquare it sits on Pro and Enterprise, so finding out which campaign produced revenue means a sales conversation and a contract.

Billing terms: currency, discounts, trial and refunds

Contentsquare's billing FAQ says European customers, including the UK, are billed in euros and everyone else in US dollars. Prices cover the whole account within one geographic region, however many sites it runs, and sessions are shared across projects on a first-come, first-served basis, so one busy site can use up another's allowance.

Yearly billing takes 20 percent off before VAT, but only when it is set up in the product by card or PayPal, not on invoice. Two paid Growth plans, Experience Analytics and Voice of Customer, earn a further 10 percent off the cheaper one, on top of the yearly discount. The help centre adds that switching from monthly to yearly bills a full year from the date of the change.

Every new account starts with a 15-day Growth trial with no payment details and no automatic charge. New Growth accounts have a 30-day money-back guarantee; after that, a yearly plan runs to a year after the last payment. Monthly plans need no annual contract and are cancelled by downgrading to Free, effective at the end of the month.

What happens when you hit the limit

Contentsquare does not sample sessions for analytics, although replays are captured for only a share of them. Its help centre says that when a Free or Growth account reaches its session allowance, collection of new sessions and replays stops for the rest of the period, and existing data stays available. On monthly subscriptions the allowance resets on the first of each calendar month, while yearly subscriptions refresh monthly from the subscription start date. Unused sessions do not roll over.

For a store, the timing is the risk: a late-November sale that doubles traffic can use up the allowance on the busiest days of the year.

If you are a Hotjar customer

Contentsquare's help centre says it is moving Hotjar accounts onto Contentsquare in phases, with the first group contacted from 26 August 2026. Each account gets 30 days with both products running on the existing Hotjar tracking code. Unless the account owner opts out before the deadline in the notification email, the account then moves to a Contentsquare Growth plan, Hotjar stops collecting and becomes read-only for 12 months, and its data is deleted after that.

The price may change. The FAQ says the personalised email shows the Growth plan and price that will apply, based on observed traffic, and that the new price applies from the next renewal date. Historical heatmap, recording and funnel data does not move across, so export what you want to keep. Survey and feedback data does move.

Two details matter for a store. The Contentsquare tag does not inherit an existing cookie banner or consent management setup, so its cookies must be added by hand. And sessions shorter than 30 seconds, which Hotjar could exclude, now count toward the quota.

A worked example

Take an invented store with 60,000 sessions a month that wants heatmaps and replays across the site. On Contentsquare Growth that is the 60,000 band at 279 euros a month on monthly billing, or 223 euros a month and 2,676 euros a year on yearly billing, with 20,000 replays a month and 13 months of data. If traffic peaks at 75,000 in November, the allowance runs out before the month ends unless the store moves up a band.

The same store has at most 60,000 visitors, inside Arktis Growth at $149 a month for up to 250,000 monthly tracked visitors, with session recordings and conversion tracking. The two are priced in different currencies and measure different things, so this is not a like-for-like comparison.

Where Arktis fits, and where it does not

Arktis is the product we build, so weigh this accordingly. It has no heatmaps, no surveys, no on-site A/B testing and no free plan. If the job is to study where shoppers hesitate on a page, Contentsquare does more of it, and its free tier is generous.

What Arktis covers is the source of the order. Its tracker captures gclid from Google, fbclid from Meta, msclkid from Microsoft, ttclid from TikTok and other click identifiers, plus UTM parameters, and holds them against the visitor across sessions, server side. Shopify orders arrive by webhook from the day the store connects and are matched to a visit on email where the store has identified the visitor, otherwise on the UTM source of a session from the previous 24 hours, which can be another visitor's session. Orders that cannot be matched are kept and appear under Direct on the Revenue page. Conversions are counted per UTM campaign and per ad platform, next to the Meta spend Arktis syncs per campaign once a day at 01:00 UTC.

Recordings on Growth and Scale are buffered in the visitor's browser and uploaded only after consent, and can be filtered to visitors who converted and to sessions that included a given page. Like Contentsquare, Arktis belongs in the store's consent setup: its tracker keeps visitor and session identifiers in local storage from the first page view and sends pageviews before consent, marked as not consented. Visitors are identified per browser, so Arktis does not join one person across devices, which Contentsquare's Pro plan lists as a feature.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Contentsquare cost?

Contentsquare Experience Analytics is free for up to 200,000 sessions a month with one month of data. Growth, shown in euros from Sweden on 26 October 2026, costs 49 euros a month for 7,000 sessions up to 739 euros for 200,000, or 39 to 591 euros a month on yearly billing. Voice of Customer is listed from 79 euros a month, shown beside the yearly Experience Analytics price, and Product Analytics, Pro and Enterprise are quoted through sales.

Does Contentsquare have a free plan?

Yes. Experience Analytics Free covers up to 200,000 sessions a month, one project and one month of data, with replays captured for 5 percent of sessions up to 10,000. Voice of Customer Free covers 100 survey responses a month. Product Analytics also lists a free tier, but it is activated through sales.

How many session replays do you get on Contentsquare Growth?

Contentsquare's help centre says Growth captures replays for every session up to 20,000 a month, and 15 percent of sessions above that, with a minimum of 20,000. That means every band from 25,000 to 120,000 sessions comes with 20,000 replays. Replays stay available for two months on Growth.

What happens when you reach the Contentsquare session limit?

On Free and Growth, Contentsquare stops collecting new sessions and replays until the allowance resets, and data already collected stays available. Monthly subscriptions reset on the first of each calendar month, and yearly subscriptions refresh monthly from the start date. Contentsquare does not sample analytics sessions to stay inside the limit, and unused sessions do not roll over.

Is Hotjar being replaced by Contentsquare?

Contentsquare is moving Hotjar accounts onto Contentsquare in phases, starting with customers contacted from 26 August 2026. After a 30-day period with both running, an account moves to a Contentsquare Growth plan unless its owner opts out, and Hotjar becomes read-only for 12 months before its data is deleted. The price may change from the next renewal date, and historical heatmap and recording data does not move across.
