Cyber Monday Marketing: Strategy, Timing and Measurement

Cyber Monday marketing is usually planned as an afterthought: the Black Friday campaign with the end date moved. Cyber Monday has a different audience, a different peak hour and, in Adobe's data, more online spending than Black Friday itself. This guide covers how to plan the Monday as its own campaign in 2026, when it falls on 30 November.

The short answer: run Monday as its own campaign, and read it in Arktis

Good cyber monday marketing does five things. It gives Monday its own offer or a clearly announced extension, it retargets the people who visited over the weekend and did not buy, it times email and text around the evening peak, it holds back budget for the day rather than spending it all on Friday, and it tags everything separately so Monday can be measured apart from the weekend. US shoppers spent $14.25 billion online on Cyber Monday 2025 against $11.8 billion on Black Friday, according to Adobe, so the last day is not the small one.

For the measuring, Arktis is the clear winner for an online store. It counts conversions per UTM campaign and per ad platform from matched orders, next to the Meta spend it syncs per campaign, and its date picker has Today and Yesterday settings, so you can read Cyber Monday on its own rather than as part of a five-day total (days are counted in UTC). Plans are $49, $149 and $349 a month, and Growth has a 7-day free trial.

Key takeaways

Cyber Monday is the bigger online day in Adobe's US data and the smaller one in Salesforce's, so which day matters more depends on your store, not on the headline. Its spending peaks in the evening, it comes after three days in which shoppers have already seen your offer, and in 2026 it is the last day of November. Plan it as a separate campaign with its own offer logic, its own audience of weekend visitors, and its own UTM campaign name. Then judge it on orders matched to campaigns for that day alone, because a five-day average will hide whether the Monday push earned its budget.

Cyber Monday vs Black Friday: what the data says

Adobe measures US online spending and has Cyber Monday ahead. In 2025 it recorded $6.4 billion on Thanksgiving, $11.8 billion on Black Friday, a combined $11.8 billion across Saturday and Sunday, and $14.25 billion on Cyber Monday, the biggest online shopping day of the year. Between 8pm and 10pm on Cyber Monday, shoppers spent $16 million every minute.

Salesforce has it the other way round. Using its own data set, it put Black Friday 2025 at $18 billion in the US and $79 billion globally, against $13.6 billion and $53 billion on Cyber Monday. The National Retail Federation, which counts people, found 85.7 million online shoppers in the US on Black Friday and 75.9 million on Cyber Monday, although the Monday figure rose from 64.4 million a year earlier.

The two data sets measure different things, so the sensible reading is that both days are large. Adobe forecasts $15.1 billion for Cyber Monday 2026 and $12.9 billion for Black Friday. Our Black Friday statistics page lists each figure with its scope.

Two differences matter for planning. Shopify reported that sales across its merchants worldwide peaked at 12:01pm Eastern time on Black Friday 2025, while Adobe's US Cyber Monday peak came in the evening. The two are not the same population, but they point the same way. And by Monday, many of the people you reach have already seen the offer, visited the site, or bought.

Extend the offer, or change it

There are three honest options for Monday. You can extend the Black Friday offer and say so, change it to something different, or add a Monday-only element on top.

Extending is the simplest, but if the Black Friday page counted down to a deadline, a silent extension makes the deadline false, which is the point we make about countdowns in the Black Friday landing page guide. Announce the full dates from the start, or let the first offer end and open a second one.

Changing the offer gives weekend visitors a new reason to return. Adobe expects the deepest discounts on electronics and computers to land on Cyber Monday in 2026, with televisions, toys, apparel, appliances and furniture best on Black Friday, so shoppers in some categories have been taught to wait for Monday. A different mechanic, such as a bundle, a gift with purchase or a free-shipping threshold, avoids teaching your own customers that waiting earns a deeper cut.

Whatever you choose, work out what it does to your margin first. Take a product that sells for $80 and costs $32. At full price the margin is 60 percent and break-even return on ad spend is about 1.67. At 20 percent off on Friday it sells for $64, the margin is 50 percent and break-even is 2.0. At 30 percent off on Monday it sells for $56, the margin falls to 42.9 percent and break-even rises to about 2.33. The ROAS calculator does this for your own numbers.

Retarget the weekend visitors who did not buy

Monday's cheapest audience is the one you paid for from Thursday to Sunday. Build audiences of people who visited during those four days, split by how far they got: viewed a product, added to basket, started checkout. Exclude everyone who bought, so you are not paying to show a discount to someone who has just paid for the order.

They have seen the offer, so repeating it is weaker than answering the reason they left: delivery date, returns, the last day of the sale. Put the retargeting in its own campaign with its own UTM campaign name, so its orders are not mixed with prospecting.

Expect the ad platform to be generous with the credit: a retargeting ad shown to someone who was already coming back will be counted as a conversion by the platform that served it. Our guide to data-driven retargeting covers the audience logic.

Email and SMS timing

Klaviyo reported that email and text drove 42 percent of total revenue across its customers over the 2025 weekend, rising to 43 percent on peak days. Klaviyo does not say how that share was calculated. Its standard attribution measure credits orders placed within five days of an email being sent, provided it was opened or clicked, or within 24 hours of a text being sent, so read it as a sign of importance rather than a share you can add to your ad numbers.

Adobe's evening peak suggests a shape for the day. Send the announcement in the morning, with what is new about Monday in the subject line, and a reminder in the early evening before the 8pm to 10pm window, in your customers' own time zone. Keep text messages for the final hours, and send them only to people who have agreed to receive them.

Segment by what happened at the weekend. Buyers should get a thank-you or nothing, not the same discount again, and visitors who did not buy get the Monday offer.

Budget pacing across Cyber Week

Adobe's 2025 figures give a rough shape of US demand across the five days. By our arithmetic on those figures, that is about 14 percent of Cyber Week spending on Thanksgiving, 27 percent on Black Friday, 27 percent across the weekend and 32 percent on Cyber Monday. A plan that spends everything by Saturday leaves the largest day unfunded.

Raise budgets ahead of the day rather than during it. Meta's help centre says ad sets usually leave the learning phase after about 50 results in the week following their last significant change, and that frequent budget changes can send an ad set back into learning.

On Google Ads, Smart Bidding already accounts for seasonal events, and Google says to use seasonality adjustments only if you expect major changes to conversion rates. It describes them as ideal for short events of one to seven days, which fits Cyber Week, and they are available for Search, Shopping and Display campaigns on Target ROAS and Target CPA bidding and for Performance Max.

Cyber Monday 2025 fell on 1 December, and in 2026 it is 30 November, the last day of the month. If your ad accounts have monthly budget caps or spending limits, check that they do not run out on the day you need them most.

Measure Monday separately from the weekend

Give every Monday campaign, email and text its own UTM campaign name, distinct from Black Friday. The UTM builder keeps the format consistent.

Then read the day on its own. In Arktis, the tracker captures the click identifier and UTM tags when a visitor lands and holds them against the visitor across sessions, Shopify orders are matched back to the visit, and conversions are counted per UTM campaign and per ad platform, next to the Meta spend synced per campaign. The match is on email where the store has identified the visitor, otherwise on the UTM source of a session from the previous 24 hours, which can be another visitor's session. Meta spend syncs once a day, in the early hours UTC, and Arktis counts each day's orders in UTC. For a store and ad account on European time, the cleanest read of Cyber Monday is on Tuesday 1 December, using the Yesterday setting in the Ads Analytics date picker. If your ad account runs on US time, Monday is not over when that sync runs, so press Sync now on the Integrations page on Tuesday morning before you read the day. Midnight UTC is 7pm Eastern and 4pm Pacific, so for a US store every order placed after that is counted on Tuesday. That is the whole Monday evening peak, so add Tuesday's early hours before you judge the day. Read Black Friday the same way on the Saturday.

Compare Monday with Friday on the same measures: orders, revenue and conversions per UTM campaign and per ad platform for each day, and the average order value that follows from them. Comparing first-touch and last-touch credit per ad platform over the 7-day lookback shows how many of the week's conversions were first brought in by a different platform from the one that closed them.

Shipping cut-off messaging

From Cyber Monday the question in a shopper's mind changes from price to arrival. USPS recommends sending by 17 December 2026 for Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail, 18 December for Priority Mail and 19 December for Priority Mail Express, for expected delivery before 25 December in the contiguous US. Those are recommendations, not guarantees.

Your own order-by date is earlier than the carrier's send-by date by however long you take to pack and dispatch. Put that date on the Monday page and in the Monday emails, and keep it visible in the basket. The Cyber Week 2026 calendar sets out the December dates.

Where Arktis does not fit

Arktis measures the campaign; it does not run it. It does not send email or text, it does not build retargeting audiences in Meta or Google, and it does not send events to Meta's Conversions API or Google enhanced conversions, so the audiences and the bidding signal come from your ad platforms and your email tool.

The daily read has limits too. Spend syncs per campaign for Meta only; Google, TikTok and other spend is entered by hand per platform and period, which gives customer acquisition cost per platform and one blended ROAS. The date picker has Today, Yesterday, the last 7, 30 and 90 days, this month, last month and All time, which is the default, but no custom date range. Days are counted in UTC, and Meta spend for a day arrives with the next daily sync, so the Today setting shows orders before it shows that day's Meta spend. Note Monday's numbers on Tuesday rather than expecting to pull that single day later. Plans list 7 days of data retention on Starter, 30 on Growth and 90 on Scale.

Set it up before the weekend

To read Cyber Monday by campaign on matched orders, start the 7-day Growth trial before Cyber Week, and compare the tiers on the pricing page. For the wider plan, read the Black Friday marketing strategy, and for Meta specifically, Black Friday Facebook ads. Run the Black Friday tracking checklist before the freeze.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Cyber Monday and Black Friday for marketing?

Cyber Monday comes after three days of promotion, so much of its audience has already seen your offer, and in Adobe's 2025 data its online spending peaked in the evening, between 8pm and 10pm. In Adobe's US data it is the bigger online day, at $14.25 billion in 2025 against $11.8 billion on Black Friday, while Salesforce's data has Black Friday ahead. Plan it as a separate campaign with its own offer, audience and tracking.

When is Cyber Monday 2026?

Cyber Monday is 30 November 2026, three days after Black Friday on 27 November. In 2025 it fell on 1 December, so this year it is the last day of November. Check any monthly ad budget caps so they do not run out on the day.

Should I extend my Black Friday sale to Cyber Monday?

You can, as long as you say so from the start. If the Black Friday offer was advertised with a deadline, extending it silently makes that deadline false, so either announce the full dates up front or end the first offer and open a different one for Monday. A new mechanic, such as a bundle or a gift with purchase, also gives weekend visitors a fresh reason to return.

What time should I send Cyber Monday emails?

Adobe found that US online spending on Cyber Monday 2025 peaked between 8pm and 10pm, at $16 million a minute. A morning announcement followed by an early evening reminder ahead of that window is a sensible starting point. Test it against your own customers, and send text messages only for truly time-bound moments and only to people who have opted in.

How do I measure Cyber Monday separately from Black Friday?

Give every Cyber Monday campaign, email and text its own UTM campaign name, and read the day on its own rather than as part of a weekend total. Arktis counts conversions per UTM campaign and per ad platform from matched orders, next to the Meta spend it syncs per campaign, and its Yesterday date setting lets you read Cyber Monday on the Tuesday after, with days counted in UTC. For a US store that means orders placed after 7pm Eastern on Monday, the whole evening peak, are counted on Tuesday. Compare the result with the break-even return for Monday's offer, not Friday's.
